India’s current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has finally opened up how it feels to lead India to a World Cup victory, after winning the recently concluded T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Team India created history by beating New Zealand in the final of the multi-nation tournament, as they became the first ever host nation to win the competition. Apart from that, the Men in Blue also became the first team to successfully defend their T20 World title in the competition’s history.

Suryakumar Yadav became only the third-ever Indian captain to lead his side to a T20I World Cup victory with this win. Before him, only MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma had this record to their name. Dhoni led India to victory in the inaugural edition of the competition in 2007, whereas Rohit ended India’s 17-year drought by winning the 2024 edition.

Now, Suryakumar finds his name in the same legendary company. When he asked about how it feels to be with them and if he would want to add one more World Cup to his tally, the Mumbai batter had a humble response.

“It feels good to join that elite company. "I am slowly starting to feel it. But it is a very special feeling that my name is being taken in the same lines as such great people. I will try to do the same in the future and give more trophies to India,” said Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar has been one of the most impressive captains for India in the shortest form, winning 40 of the 52 matches he had led, with an impressive win record of 76.92.
